Padmavaat - movie review

I will start by doing what I usually to at the end, my recommendation : Do not Watch This Movie !! Save yourself the money and if you think you have that excess money, then save yourself the time. Lie down and stare at the ceiling, I bet you that those 3 hours would be well spent. Waise, abhi toh utni garmi bhi nahi hai ki free AC ke liye theatre jayo . I will tell you what, don’t even waste time reading this review & get going on doing what you best do on your busy Monday morning. I will confess that I am no history buff and have absolutely no clue as to how far the movie story is true from a historically perspective, neither will I venture to figure that out. Period movies are like that and lots of previous such movies have faced similar such controversies. At times, I feel that maybe the stakeholders themselves, stroke these kinds of controversies, else why would I end up watching a period movie like this. It just evokes curiosity and you have no...

Gupta murder mystery

It was one of those dark nights in Himachal Pradesh as light faded but the snow continued to fall. A chilling evening was soon continuing to be a frost biting night. Amidst all this, Mr and Mrs. Gupta, were wrapped up in their respective blankets. It was past 8 pm but the pitch darkness outside suggested that the clock should have struck 12 midnight instead. It was not that late in the night but considering that their daughter usually returned home by 6 pm and definitely would inform them of her whereabouts, the anxious parents were right to have their share of concern. The aged couple were clueless on what they could do next. Within an hour, a call jumped them up from their tired slumber. They had dozed off in their anxious wait for their daughter. It was Sonakshi, their daughter’s best friend. The old couple had just slumped to sleep in their chairs as they anxiously waited for their daughter Nidhi to be back. Sonakshi started enquiring about Nidhi as she had not attended th...

The love hate story

The love and hate story “ It's over and don’t me call ever again” screamed a message on my WhatsApp minutes after I boarded my Delhi to Mumbai flight !! I had spent 3 wonderful days and nights with her and her smell was still lingering within me when this message literally knocked me out of my senses. I frantically replied back with numerous messages but neither the lack of read receipts nor any replies gave me any sense of confidence. The flight was ready to take off and the flight attendant Neha, was urging me to switch off the phone. How would I explain to her that, it was matter of near life and death. Needless to say, Neha's fervent pleas fell on deaf ears. Several messages evoked no response and eventually I lost the signal after we took off from Delhi airport. I was simply not able to comprehend as to how a magical weekend could end up in such a misery. So much so, that she was the one who had come to drop me at the airport and sealed the trip with a kiss. It was qui...

Yogi's Travelogue - Prav & me ! Jan 2018

Image
It was an unlikely and unusual duo of Pravin and myself that set off on an adventurous road trip on a weekend. I say unlikely, because both of us had never even spent time over even a cup of coffee, let alone going on an overnight journey. Unusual, because of our entirely different natures and very contrasting diverse habits. People who know both of us would simply know what I mean. Pravin, as I know him, is a complete no nonsense guy, completely meticulous and into details and more importantly a teetotaler, while I stood alone at the other end of the spectrum. Two different personalities going on a voyage which was neither planned nor chartered.  Before my trip with Pravin, I had been on a solo trip "drive to nowhere".  It all started off as my thirst to explore the Indian country side fueled by my desire to roam free without any kind of restriction. Having roamed the world, I realized that how little I have seen of my own India. It’s a shame that a country that can boast ...
